Rangers Succumb to Metro State 65-54 at Home; Purdy Scores 16

Denver, Colo.: After being on the road this past weekend, the Rangers fell to Metro State 65-54 while at home on Tuesday. Tae'lor Purdy, Emily Kuipers, and Jacque Machesney all scored in double digits for Regis with 16, 13, and ten points respectively.

During the first half, the lead was exchanged before Regis (8-8, 1-7 RMAC) had a three-point lead at the half. At the start of the second half, that lead decreased to one before the Roadrunners went ahead on a layup by Brandi Valencia just over a minute into the period.

Metro State (9-7, 4-4 RMAC) was able to increase and hang on to that lead throughout the period walking away with an 11 point margin of victory (65-54).

While Purdy, Machesney, and Kuipers helped the Rangers by scoring buckets, they also did their part by pulling down rebounds with them grabbing 7, 6, and 5 respectively. Purdy was also 5-of-6 from the charity stripe while while Machesney sank 2-of-3 from deep and Kuipers was 3-of-5 from behind the three-point line.

As a team, the Rangers shot 40.0 percent from the field (20-50) and 53.8 from long range (7-13).

Up next, Regis will face UCCS in Colorado Springs on Friday. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
