Rangers Snag 79-64 Victory Over Mavericks on Road
Grand Junction, Colo.: Four Rangers scored in double digits as Regis grabbed a 64-79 victory over Mesa State while on the road Saturday. Chelsea Porter, Salina Kuiper, Tae'lor Purdy, and Jacque Machesney each scored 22, 18, 17, and 13 points respectively in the game.
With 4:58 remaining in the first half Regis led by 7, 19-26, which increased to 17, 19-36, over the next minute and half as the Rangers went on a 10-0 run. Going into the break, Regis had a six point lead over the Mavericks, 33-39.
Regis was able to keep the lead throughout the second half walking away at the buzzer with a 64-79 win.
While Machesney was one of the top scorers of the night she also dished out seven assists in the game while also pulling down three rebounds for the Rangers. Porter grabbed seven rebounds, Emily Kuipers had five, and Purdy and Meghan Hollenga each had four.
The Rangers shot 53.1 percent (26-49) from the floor on the night while shooting 50.0 from deep (8-16) and 70.4 (19-27) from the charity line.
Up next, the Rangers will face Western State in Gunnison on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
