Rangers Win Second Game in a Row with 93-64 Defeat over Dominican University

Denver, Colo.: After defeating Johnson and Wales 85-48 on Friday, the Rangers grabbed another win over Dominican University of California, 93-65, on Saturday at the Regis Fieldhouse. Chelsea Porter, Salina Kuiper, Tae'lor Purdy, and Emily Kupiers all scored in double digits for Regis with Kuipers recording a double-double.

The Rangers grabbed the first lead of the game, 2-0, just one second into the first period when Purdy scored Regis' first basket. This lead was one that Regis (6-4, 1-3 RMAC) held onto throughout the game.

Over a span of six and a half minutes during the second period, the Rangers went on a 26 to 9 run which began with 10:05 remaining in the game. The closest Dominican came to the Rangers in the second half was within 16 points which occured at the 17:30 mark. From that point on, Regis held the Penguins at bay not allowing Dominican to come closer than within 18 points of them.

Porter led the Rangers in scoring with 26 points as she sank five of six attempts from the three-point line. Kuiper, Purdy, and Kuipers scored 20, 19, and 11 points respectively with Kuipers pulling down 11 rebounds for Regis.

Up next, Regis will face Abilene Christian in Pueblo on Jan. 2 when they play in the CSU-Pueblo Tournament. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
