Rangers Fall to Colorado Mines in 78-74 Nailbiter

Denver, Colo.: After falling to Colorado Christian 84-65 on Friday, the Rangers dropped their second game of the weekend to Colorado Mines in a 78-74 nailbiter at the Regis Fieldhouse on Saturday. Tae'lor Purdy scored 21 points for Regis while Chelsea Porter scored 20. Emily Kuipers and Salina Kuiper totaled for 20 points with ten points each.

During the first period, Regis went on a 9-0 run over a period of about two and a half minutes, 9:55-7:18, to go ahead by two (21-19). The Rangers had the lead twice more in the period before the Orediggers walked away at the break up by eight.

CSM held onto the lead through the entire second half until the 5:34 mark when a three-pointer by Purdy tied the game at 69. The game was tied twice more but Regis was never able to gain a lead eventually succumbing to the Orediggers 78-74.

Purdy was 7-of-13 from the floor, 3-of-7 from deep, sank 4-of-6 from the charity stripe, pulled down six rebounds, and dished out six assists in the game. Porter was 6-of-11 from the floor, 5-of-8 from the three-point line, and 3-of-4 from the free throw line.

Up next, Regis will face Chadron State in Chadron, Neb. on Feb. 4th. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
