Porter Scores 26 in Rangers 78-76 Loss to Chadron State
Denver, Colo.: Chelsea Porter recorded a double-double Saturday as she scored 26 points and grabbed 11 boards as Regis' battle with Chadron State ended in a 78-76 loss to the Eagles. In total, the Rangers had the lead for just over 32 minutes of play but eventually fell to Chadron State at home.
The lead was exchanged during the first half until the 13:17 mark when Regis grabbed a two point lead on a layup by Tae'lor Purdy. With 4:27 remaining in the half, the Rangers went on a 7-0 run over the next two minutes to increase their lead to 13 with 2:19 remaining. They went into the break up by nine.
During the second half, Regis increased their lead to 15 at one point and kept it above ten for much of the half. Nearing the end of the game, the Eagles gradually cut their deficit until a layup by Kelsey Scott put them up by one with 1:16 left in the game. Samantha Arkulari sank a free throw shot with nine seconds remaining to increase Chadron's lead to two. The final score ended in favor of the Eagles 78-76.
Behind Porter in points was Jacque Machesney, who also had seven steals, Tae'lor Purdy, and Salina Kuiper who had 15, 14, and ten points respectively. Porter sank 5-of-11 from deep and Machesney was 3-of-5 from the three-point line. Purdy had nine boards in the game.
