Rangers Fall 57-48 to Adams State in First Conference Game of the Season
Denver, Colo.: The Rangers fell in their first conference game of the season 57-48 to the Adams State Grizzlies at home on Dec. 4. Jacque Machesney and Tae'lor Purdy scored in double digits for the Rangers.
Adams State grabbed the first lead of the game which was taken by the Rangers on the next basket when Machesney sank a three-pointer to put Regis up by one (3-2). The lead was exchanged throughout the half with the Grizzlies heading to the locker room with a three-point lead.
That lead gradually increased to 22 during the second half before Regis diminished it to seven. At the 12:31 mark, Adams State was up 18-40 until the Rangers went on an 18-3 run over the next seven and a half minutes to come within seven points of the Grizzlies. However, this scoring streak wasn't enough to overcome Adams State. The Grizzlies walked away with the victory at the buzzer.
Machesney led the Rangers in scoring with 14 points, while being 4-of-7 from deep, followed by Purdy with 13. With these 13 points, came Purdy's fifth time to score in double digits in as many games with all five of them being her first collegiate games of her career. She also pulled down eight rebounds for the Rangers which led the team on the night. Machesney had five.
Up next, Regis will face Fort Lewis College on Sat., Dec. 5th at the Regis Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
