Emily Kuipers Records Double Double in Rangers' 60-54 Defeat Over Abilene Christian

Pueblo, Colo.: On Saturday, the Rangers extended their winning streak to three with a 60-54 defeat over Abilene Christian University at the Chuck Stephens Classic in Pueblo. Three Rangers scored in double digits with Emily Kuipers leading the way with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Just under five minutes into the first half Regis gained the lead on a layup by Kuipers. This lead would be one that the Rangers held throughout the remainder of the half. Over the next three minutes, Regis went on a 7-0 run to increase their lead to nine (13-4) before heading into the break up by 11 (28-17).

Regis held their lead up until the 15:11 mark when Abilene went ahead by one on a three-point basket by Jamie Meyer. The Wildcats stayed up on the Rangers for three minutes before a layup by Meghan Hollenga put Regis up once again. Regis was able to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the game snagging a 60-54 victory over the Wildcats.

Kuipers led the Rangers in scoring with 19 points followed by Salina Kuiper and Tae'lor Purdy who had 16 and 10 points respectively. Purdy and Jacque Machesney dished out four assists each while Kuipers helped get the ball into the hands of Regis' offense by grabbing 12 defensive rebounds, 14 total.

Up next, the Rangers will face Central State in their second and final game of the Chuck Stephens Classic. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
