Rangers Continue Splits Going 1-1 with UCCS
Colorado Springs, Colo.: The Rangers dropped a one-run game to the Mountain Lions in game one, 3-4, on Sunday before snagging a five run victory, 7-2, over UCCS in game two. With a split on Saturday, Regis split 2-2 overall on the weekend with the Mountain Lions.
Tlhe first inning of game one went scoreless before the Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the second. Adami singled up the middle to lead off the inning and was brought in on a double to right center by Amber Aragon-Autobee. Mo McDaniel, who reached on an error, also scored on the play.
UCCS tied the score in the bottom of the third as they crossed two runs over the plate. The fourth and fifth went scoreless before UCCS added two more to the board in the bottom of the sixth to go up by two, 4-2.
Regis added one more run in the top of the seventh but was unable to tie the score ending the game in a 4-3 Mountain Lion victory. Recording the loss was Bianca Holley who is now 9-13 this season.
Regis took the first lead of game two in the top of the first as they tallied one run on two Ranger hits. The second went scoreless before the Rangers added two more to the board in the third to take a 3-0 lead over UCCS.
Bre Backlund led off the inning with a double to left field before a Ranger out brought Adami to the plate for a walk. A double steal placed runners on second and third for McDaniel at the plate. A sacrafice fly to centerfield brought Backlund in and advanced Adami who scored on a single to left field by Maegan Cooley.
UCCS added one run in the bottom of the fourth to come within two of Regis, 3-1. The Rangers then extended their lead in the top of the fifth as they scored two more runs on two hits all with two outs. Nikki Haberkorn walked to lead off the inning before advancing to third on two groundouts. A single by Cooley brought in Haberkorn before before Cooley scored on three Mountain Lion wild pitches.
The Mountain Lions crossed one over the plate in the bottom of the inning to set the score at 5-2. Regis scored two more in the top of the seventh to to up 7-5. With UCCS unable to score in the bottom of the inning, the Rangers grabbed the victory. Recording the win was Haberkorn who is now 8-10 this season.
Up next, Regis will host their last home games of the season next weekend against Colorado School of Mines. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. on Sat., May 1st.
