Rangers Score Six in One Inning to Grab Three Run Victory Over Western N.M. in RMAC Tournament

Denver, Colo.: To start off the RMAC tournament, Regis scored six runs in the fifth inning to grab a three run victory, 6-3, over Western N.M. Alisa Heronema went 3-for-4 with a triple to break the career record as she has now hit 25 triples in just three seasons at Regis. Rebekah Tippets, 1999-2002, was the previous record holder with 24.

The first four innings of the game went scoreless before Regis took a 6-0 lead in the top of the fifth as they scored six runs on four hits and took advantage of two errors. Bre Backlund led off the inning with a bunt single to reach base. A Mustang error advanced Backlund to second and placed Nikki Haberkorn on first to bring Natalie Adami to the plate. Adami hit an RBI single through the left side and advanced to second on the throw.

Mo McDaniel came to the plate to double to centerfield and score two, 3-0, before Bianca Holley walked. Two Ranger outs brought Heronema to the plate. She tripled to right center to bring in two more and put Regis up by five. Another Western N.M. error scored Heronema for the final run of the inning.

The Mustangs were able to score two in the bottom of the inning on five hits. With these being the only runs of the game, Regis snagged a 6-3 victory. Recording the win for the Rangers was Holley who is now 14-13 this season.
