Rangers Shutout CSU-Pueblo 1-0 to Advance to RMAC Semifinal Game
Denver, Colo.: Natalie Adami and Mo McDaniel each went 2-for-3 as Regis shutout CSU-Pueblo 1-0 to advance to the RMAC semifinal game on Friday. The Rangers came into the tournament as the No. 7 seed and is now one of four teams remaining and one of two undefeated.
The first inning went scoreless before Regis tallied one run in the top of the second. With one out, Adami tripled to left field before being brought in on a Thunderwolf error for the only run of the game.
In the bottom of the seventh, a single by CSU-Pueblo's Samantha Rios brought Kelly Purcell to the plate. Purcell sacraficed Rios over to bring Annalyse Garcia into the box. She reached on a fielder's choice to Regis shortstop Bre Backlund. On the play, Rios took a large lead off of second and was caught in a rundown started by Backlund. This play brought two Thunderwolf outs and left Garcia on first. Another fielder's choice caught Garcia out at second and ended the game.
Bianca Holley fanned eight batters and walked just one. With this win she jumps to 15-13 in the circle.
Up next, Regis will face Mesa State at Metro on Friday. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
