Rangers Drop Two at Metro State
Denver, Colo.: After splitting all of their double headers so far this season, the Rangers dropped both games to Metro State on Saturday. Both games were one run ball games with Regis losing the first 2-1 and the second 3-2.
Game one went scoreless for three innings before Regis took a one run lead in the top of the fourth on a single run homer by Alyssa Beskid. This was her third homerun so far this season.
The fifth went scoreless before Metro State tacked two runs onto the board in the bottom of the sixth. With the Rangers unable to add any runs in the top of the seventh, the Roadrunners walked away with the 2-1 victory. Nikki Haberkorn recorded the loss and now holds a 1-2 overall record. She gave up five hits and struck out eight in the game.
In the bottom of the first inning in game two, Metro State took the first lead of the game as they scored one run. They added one more in the third and the fourth to have a three run lead going into the top of the fifth.
The Rangers cut this deficit to just one, 3-2, in the fifth when Beskid singled to centerfield and was brought in on a homer by Mo McDaniel. Regis was unable to add anymore runs to the board falling 3-2 to the Roadrunners. Bianca Holley recorded the loss falling to 2-1. She allowed just six hits and fanned seven batters.
On the day, Beskid went 3-for-5 with one homerun and Alisa Heronema went 2-for-4 with one walk.
Up next, Regis will face Metro State in another double header on Sunday to finish the series. The Rangers will host the games at Metro State because of unplayable field conditions at Regis Softball Field. Game times are set for 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
