Holley Records Two Wins in Rangers' Back-to-Back Victories Over Nebraska-Kearney

Denver, Colo.: Bianca Holley went 3-for-6 with two recorded wins in the circle on Friday against Nebraska-Kearney as the Rangers won their first two consecutive games this season. Regis took game one 8-1 before game two ended in favor of the Rangers 6-5.

Two home runs by Mo McDaniel and Nikki Haberkorn helped put the Rangers up by four by the third inning of game one. In the second inning, Haberkorn scored the first run of the game after walking and being brought in on a throwing error by Lopers’ catcher Sara Dunn. McDaniel then sent one out over the centerfield fence to bring in Natalie Admi for two RBI’s.

Haberkorn added a solo shot homer in the third over the right field fence to put the Rangers up 4-0. Kearney posted one unearned run in the top of the fourth to come within three, 4-1, of Regis.

Regis took a five run lead as they added two more runs to the board in the fifth. Winsor brought in the RBI’s as she doubled to right center to score Shannon Massine and Bre Backlund.

The sixth brought two runs for Regis as they took advantage of two Loper errors to go ahead by seven, 8-1. The Rangers held Kearney in the top of the seventh to grab the victory. Holley recorded the win as she fanned eight batters while walking just one. She is now 4-10.

Kearney took a one run lead in the top of the first on a solo homerun before the Rangers scored three in the bottom of the inning. Heronema reached on a Loper error and scored on a suicide squeeze by Jamie Winsor. Admi brought in Winsor when she homered to right center before the inning closed.

The Lopers added one more to the board in the second and third to tie the game at three. The fourth brought two runs for Kearney as they went ahead 5-3. Regis answered back in the bottom of the inning with three runs to go up by one, 6-5.

Holley led off the inning with a single through the right side. Amber-Aragon Autobee reached base on a fielder’s choice which advanced Holley to second with a Loper error. A sac bunt by Backlund moved runners to second and third for Heronema who singled up the middle for two RBI’s. A ground out by Massine moved Heronema to third for Winsor who singled to right center for the RBI.

The fifth, sixth, and top of seventh went scoreless with Regis gaining the win. Holley recorded the win in game two and is now 5-10 this season.

Up next, the Rangers will face Kearney on Saturday to complete the four game series.
