Rangers Drop Two One-Run Ball Games to Fort Lewis

Denver, Colo.: Regis dropped two one-run ball games to Fort Lewis on Sunday to fall 0-4 to the Skyhawks in the series. Game one ended 8-7 before game two finished with a 6-5 score.

Game one went scoreless for one inning before both teams posted one run in the second. In the third, Regis took a two run lead as they added two to the board on two Ranger hits. The Skyhawks came within one as they scored one in the bottom of the inning.

Regis added two more to the board in the top of the fourth before the runs were matched by Fort Lewis in the bottom of the inning. With Regis up 5-4 going into the sixth, the Skyhawks crossed one across the plate in the inning to tie it up at five.

The Rangers scored two more in the seventh to go up by two going into the bottom of the inning. Fort Lewis scored three to grab an 8-7 victory over the Rangers. Mo McDaniel went 3-for-4 in the game with two RBI's and Bre Backlund had one RBI as she went 2-for-4 with one run scored.

The Rangers jumped on top once again in game two scoring three in the top of the first. Alisa Heronema led off the inning with a double to center field before a single to center by Jamie Winsor brought her in. Nikki Haberkorn homered to bring in Winsor and herself for the two additional runs in the inning.

The Skyhawks came within one in the second as they scored two in the bottom of the inning. In the third, they tied it up at three by adding one more to the board. The fourth went scoreless before Regis tallied two runs in the top of the fifth to go up by two, 5-3.

That lead remained until the bottom of the sixth when Fort Lewis scored three to take a one-run lead, 6-5. With Regis unable to score in the top of the seventh, the Skyhawks walked away with the victory.
