Rangers Fall Twice to CSU-Pueblo

Denver, Colo.: After a home series last weekend against the Adams State Grizzlies, Regis traveled to Pueblo on Saturday. The Thunderwolves grabbed both games first defeating the Rangers 5-2 before snagging a 7-5 victory in nine innings in game two.

Pueblo jumped on top in game one scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. They added one more to the board in the third and the fifth before Regis posted two runs in the top of the sixth.

Shannon Massine led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a fielder's choice. She advanced to third on a single by Alisa Heronema who then stole second. Natalie Adami brought in both runs with a single to right field.

With Regis unable to score anymore runs, CSU-Pueblo grabbed the 5-2 victory. Nikki Haberkorn recorded the loss for the Rangers and falls to 2-5.

Game two went scoreless for two innings before the Thunderwolves again grabbed the first lead in the bottom of the third with one run. They added three more in the fifth before Regis answered back with three of their own in the top of the sixth.

With one out, Amber Aragon-Autobee singled up the middle before Heronema was hit by a pitch and moved her to second. After a Ranger strikeout, Haberkorn homered to right field for three RBI's.

Pueblo added one more run in the bottom of the inning before the Rangers scored two in the top of the seventh to tie the game at five. Bre Backlund led off the inning with a single. Massine singled before she and Backlund each advanced a base on the throw.

With runners on second and third, Alyssa Beskid pinch hit and drove in Backlund on a single through the left side. Then a single by Heronema brought in Massine to tie up the game. The eigth went scoreless before the Thunderwolves drove in two runs in the bottom of the ninth on a homer to centerfield by Lacey Chesser. Recording the loss for Regis was Bianca Holley who now holds a 2-6 overall record.

Up next, Regis will finish up their series against CSU-Pueblo on Sunday in Pueblo. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m.
