Rangers Win Both to Take Three of Four from the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls

Denver, Colo.: After splitting with the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls on Saturday, the Rangers came back to steal both games Sunday and take three of four from Highlands. The Rangers defeated the Cowgirls 8-6 in the first game and run ruled them 8-0 in six innings in the second game.

In the first game, Regis (11-8, 3-1 RMAC) held the Cowgirls to a scoreless first inning and came back to score two in the bottom of the first. After Highlands tied the score in the top of the second Regis scored three in the bottom of the inning to take a three run lead. Highlands scored one more in the third before the Rangers scored another three. Regis went scoreless for the remainder of the game while Highlands scored one in the fourth, and two in the fifth.

Leading the Ranger offense was sophomore leadoff hitter Alisa Heronema who went 3-for-4 with two RBI's and one run scored. Freshman Natalie Adami tallied two hits in the game going 2-for-4 with four RBI's and also scoring one run. Freshman Cassie Long went 1-for-2 while sophomore Amber Aragon-Autobee went 1-for-1. Both Long and Aragon-Autobee scored two runs in the game.

After a two run victory, the Rangers came into the second game and scored in every inning but two. They started off by scoring one in the bottom of the first before scoring four in the second. The third and fourth went scoreless before they scored one in the fifth and two in the sixth to end the game after six.

Going 2-for-3 in the game was freshman Maegan Cooley who had one RBI and scored one run for the Rangers. Tagging on two more hits to her previous three was Heronema going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Sophomore Jamie Winsor also went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs and scored one. Sophomore Emily Anderson went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

The Rangers will face Metro State in another conference matchup on March 3rd at the Regis Softball Field. The first pitch is set for noon.
