Rangers Split in Second Part of Series to Snag Two of Four from Kearney

Kearney, Neb.: After winning the second game on Saturday, Regis carried that momentum into Sunday to snag a 2-0 victory in the first game against Nebraska-Kearney. In the second game, the Rangers fell by one run, 5-4, to the Lopers. These two games completed the series in Kearney, Nebraska against the Lopers.

The first five innings of the first game went completely scoreless for both teams before the Rangers (23-16, 15-9 RMAC) scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the sixth. Sophomore Amber Aragon-Autobee reached base on a double to left field before being sacraficed to third on a bunt by Alisa Heronema, also a sophomore. A wild pitch scored Aragon-Autobee for the first run of the game.

With two Ranger outs, freshman Natalie Adami doubled to left center before stealing third. A single by senior Jackie Martinez scored Adami for the second and final run of the game. Bianca Holley (9-7) recorded the win for the Rangers.

In game two, Regis jumped on top by scoring the first run of the game in the top of the first. Heronema tripled to left field before being brought in on a single by sophomore Jamie Winsor. Going into the bottom of the inning with a 1-0 lead, the Rangers fell beind 2-1 after two Loper runs were scored. Kearney (10-14, 7-9 RMAC) added two more runs to the board in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead before Regis matched those two runs in the top of the fifth to set the score at 4-3.

One more Ranger run in the top of the sixth tied the score at four before a last inning Loper run won the game in the bottom of the seventh. Recording the loss for the Rangers was freshman Nikki Haberkorn who falls to 12-6.

The Rangers next games will be on April 4th against Colorado State Pueblo at Metro State in Denver. The first pitch is set for 9:00 a.m.
