Rangers Drop Two to Mines in Final Regular Season Games and Gain No. 5 Seed for RMAC Tournament
Denver, Colo.: After a split on Saturday, the Rangers fell twice in as many games to the Colorado Mines Orediggers on Sunday. Game one ended in just five innings with Mines grabbing an 8-0 victory over Regis. In game two, the Rangers crossed one over the plate to Mines' 4 runs falling in their final regular season game 4-1.
In game one, Regis was unable to score any runs while the Orediggers rallied for eight in five innings. One of those runs came in the first, five in the third, and two in the fifth for the run-rule. Regis tallied only three hits on the game with senior Jacki Martinez, freshman Nikki Haberkorn, and sophomore Amber Aragon-Autobee all having one each.
After falling in game one by eight, the Rangers held the Orediggers to just four runs in game two. The first inning went scoreless before Mines took a two run lead in the bottom of the second inning. They added one run onto the board in the third before the fourth went scoreless. Regis put themselves on the board in the fifth when sophomore Alisa Heronema scored on a single by Martinez.
That one run would be the only one Regis would cross over the plate for the remainder of the game while the Orediggers tacked one more run onto their previous three in the bottom of the sixth grasping the win 4-1.
The Rangers doubled their hits from game one totaling for six in game two.
On the day, Aragon-Autobee led the Rangers going 2-for-3. Martinez went 2-for-4 with the Rangers lone RBI while freshman Natalie Adami went 2-for-5 with a double and a walk.
After the completion of Regis' series against Colorado Mines, the Rangers gained the No. 5 seed for the RMAC tournament scheduled to begin on April 30th. In their first game, Regis will face No. 4 seed CSU-Pueblo at Metro State. The first pitch is set for 9:30 a.m.
