Rangers Place Eight on RMAC All-Academic Teams
Colorado Springs, Colo.: The Rangers men's and women's cross country teams combined to place eight runners on the RMAC All-Academic Teams for the 2009 season.
Junior Matthew Drake was placed on the RMAC All-Academic Second Team with a 4.0 GPA in Biochemistry. This season, Drake ran his best time of 27:24.93 in the 8K at the FHSU Tiger Open on Oct. 10th.
Also on the men's side, Sid White, who ran a 27:45.8 in the 8K at the UC Riverside Invite on Sept. 19th, received Honor Roll honors this season. White is majoring in Pre-Med at Regis.
Six women were placed on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll team including Karoline Garren, Sonja Nelson, Kelsey Schmidt, Deanna Richert, Samantha Comerci, and Whitney Unterreiner.
Garren holds a 3.96 in Neuroscience and ran her best time of 20:01.4 in the 5K at the UC Riverside Invite on Sept. 19th. Nelson also ran her best time at the UC Rierside Invite (5K) when she ran a 20:02.9. She has a 3.41 GPA in Business.
Schmidt, also receiving Honor Roll honors, holds a 3.85 in Biology at Regis. She ran a 20:17.9 in the 5K at the UC Riverside Open on Sept. 19th. Richert ran a 19:22.9 (5K), a personal best this season, at the UC Riverside Invite. She is majoring in Neuroscience and holds a 3.54 GPA.
With a 3.61 GPA, Comerci was also placed on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. At the UC Riverside Invite she ran a 19:59.9 in the 5K. Unterreiner, who holds a 3.35 in Biology, received Honor Roll honors this season as well. She ran a 20:10.0 (5K) at the Joe Vigil Open on Sept. 6th.
