Ranger Men's Soccer Ranks Third in RMAC Preseason Poll; Three Rangers Named to Preseason All-RMAC Team

Colorado Springs, Colo.:  The Regis University men's soccer team placed third in the RMAC Preseason Poll released Wednesday.  Seniors Taylor Diem, Alex Tarnoczi, and sophomore Logan Miller were all named to the Preseason All-RMAC Team.

The Rangers finished last season with a 10-3-1 RMAC record and a 13-4-1 overall record as well as an appearance against Metro State in the RMAC semifinals.

The Rangers return 17 players, while bringing in six freshman and two senior transfers.

Diem, a returning defender for the Rangers, helped the 2011 team to a 0.98 overall goals against average.  The Middleton, Wis. native also put up two goals and one assist in 15 total games played.

The 2012 season will be the first with forward Tarnoczi, who comes to Regis from DI Denver University.  While at DU, the Castle Rock, Colo. native earned MPSF Newcomer of the Year in 2009 and All-MPSF Second Team honors in 2010.

Also tabbed to RMACs Preseason poll is Miller, who was named Co-Freshman of the Year after his freshman campaign in 2011.  The Tomball, Texas native scored five goals and four assists for the Rangers.  He had one game-winning goal and was a perfect 2-for-2 on penalty kicks.

The Rangers will start the 2012 season in Bismarck, N.D. against University of Mary at 9:30 AM on Friday, August 31st.
