Rangers Drop 4-0 to #1 Fort Lewis

The Ranger men's soccer program dropped an RMAC Conference match to the nationally ranked #1 Fort Lewis Skyhawks today in Durango, Colo.  The Skyhawks put four goals in on the Rangers to obtain the win.

The Rangers held their opponents back until the 38th minute of play.  Defender Artur Piperkov crossed the ball to midfielder Aaron Kloer.  Kloer sent a header to forward Derek Freeman.  Freeman sent the ball to the post and into the goal.

The Hawks scored again early in the second half.  In the 50th minute, forward Casey Dean and midfielder Joey Madigan broke away with one Ranger defending.  Madigan shot the ball off his defender into the goal.

In the 61st minute, Alberto Capdepon-Rodriguez sent a free kick from 20 yards out into the goal,

The fourth and final Fort Lewis goal came in the 83rd minute of the match.  Dean was played a long ball which he headed to forward Jordan Alexander.  Alexander hit the far side of the net with the ball. 

The Rangers had 17 shots, five of which were on goal.  Goalkeeper Ben Sabados had three saves during the match.

The men will travel to Adams State Friday, October 21st to compete in the RMAC Conference match at 3:30 PM.
