Rangers Defeat Upper Iowa 3-1 in Season Opener
Bismarck, N.D.: On Friday, the Rangers started off their season 1-0 with a season opening victory over Upper Iowa (3-1) at Bismarck, N.D. The Rangers tallied their three goals on 21 shots, 11 on goal, while holding the Peacocks to just six shots, two of which were on goal.
Nathan Kafer scored the first goal of the game at the 17:19 mark on an assist from Ben Fredrickson. Fredrickson passed the ball through to Kafer who beat the goalie form the the PK mark for the goal. Stephen Reed put the Rangers up by two just a minute later when his shot rebounded off the crossbar for Ranger goal number two. He was assisted by Lucas Mazier on the play.
During the second half Ben Buhler scored with just over 30 minutes remaining as he was assisted by Fredrickson on the play. The Peacocks were able to sink one in at the 77:52 mark when Derek Oelmann scored for Upper Iowa. However, they were never able to cut their deficit anymore before the 90 minute mark leading Regis to a 3-1 victory.
Up next Regis will face Mary at the University of Mary on Sept. 5th. Kickoff is set for noon.
