Ranger Men's Soccer Wins Yet Another Close Battle This Time 1-0 Over UC-Colorado Springs

Denver, Colo.: The Regis Ranger men's soccer fans can at least say that they get their monies worth when watching.  Today's game against UC-Colorado Springs was no different as they outcome wasn't secured until the final buzzer went off.  When it did, however, the Rangers were victorious 1-0 and are unbeaten in eight of the last nine matches.

Only one of those nine matches have been a difference of more than two goals, a 10-1 victory over Colorado Christian.

The lone goal of the evening came at the 20:16 mark of the match when senior James Copeland crossed a ball to the middle after outrunning his defender down the sideline.  Copeland's pass, his second assist of the season, was perfectly placed and junior Nathan Kafer took the ball and put it past UC-Colorado Springs' net minder Adam Liszewski for his fifth goal of the season.

Each team had 18 shots on goal, while Regis had six shots on goal and the Mountain Lions (6-7-1, 3-5-1 RMAC) had just three.  Senior Wally Fink posted his second shutout of the season for Regis (6-3-4, 4-1-4 RMAC) improving to 5-3-3 on the season.

Regis keeps a hold on fourth place in the RMAC with the win.  Regis currently has 16 points, just one point behind Metro State and three behind second place Colorado Mines.  Mines was the only one of the top four teams to lose on Friday.

Regis will continue their homestand with a 3:30 p.m. match on Sunday afternoon against CSU-Pueblo.
