Regis Men's Soccer Falls in Close One, 1-0 to 15th-Ranked Colorado Mines

Golden, Colo.: The Regis men's soccer team battled #15 Colorado Mines and went toe-to-toe with them but in the end fell 1-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.  Despite the loss, the Rangers locked up four-seed in the upcoming RMAC Tournament on Friday in Durango, Colo.  The Rangers will face the #1 seed and third-ranked Fort Lewis at 2:30 p.m.

The match was tightly contest throughout but an early goal with just two minutes and 29 seconds into the match, Mines' Jeff Nelson scored past Ranger goalkeeper Wally Fink for the first and only goal of the match.  Kenan Bisic threw the ball into the box and found Nelson in front of the goal for Colorado Mines (14-2-3, 10-2-1 RMAC).

Regis (8-5-4, 6-3-4) outshot Mines 20-18 and had more shots on goal, 4-3, than the Orediggers.  Each team had five corner kicks and the fouls were pretty even at 12 for Regis and 10 for Mines.

Fink, had two saves and allowed just the one goal and offensively the Rangers got four shots each from junior Nathan Kafer and freshman Lucas Mazier.

Regis will play one final regular season home game on Tuesday afternoon, Senior Day, with game time set for 1:30.
