Nathan Kafer Named to the NSCAA All-Central Region First Team; Ryan Brennan and Gary Cole Named to Second Team
Denver, Colo.: Nathan Kafer, a Third Team All-RMAC selection, was named to the NSCAA Division II All-Central Region First Team after the Rangers finished the season 9-6-4. Senior Ryan Brennan and junior Gary Cole were both named to the second team. The season came to an end for the Rangers on Nov. 6th when Regis fell to Fort Lewis College 6-1 in the RMAC Semifinal game.
Kafer, a junior forward, scored six goals this season while tallying six assists. He totaled for 18 points on the season after playing playing in 16 of the Rangers 19 games and starting 13 of them. Kafer took 57 shots placing 23 of them on goal to combine for a .404 SOG percentage this season.
This is Kafer's second season earning this honor as he was named to the First Team in 2008 as well. Last season, he was also named to the Daktronics All-Central Region Second Team, the All-RMAC Second Team, and Academic All-RMAC First team. In his first year at Regis, 2007, he was named All-RMAC First Team, and RMAC Freshman of the Year.
Brennan a native of Albuquerque, N.M. is a force to be reckoned with in the back row. He helps anchor one of the top defenses in the league with Cole which has helped the Rangers to six shutouts this season. The six shutouts are fifth most in Regis history in one season. Brennan has assisted on one goal this season.
Cole, from Englewood, Colo., has played at Regis for two seasons after transferring from Division I Vermont University. This season he earned First Team All-RMAC honors, for the second time, after the junior helped the Rangers to six shutouts on the season. The six shutouts rank the Rangers fourth in the RMAC and he has helped the Rangers to an anemic 1.11 goals against average, also fourth in the RMAC. Cole has started all 18 games for Regis this season.
