Eight Ranger Men's Soccer Student-Athletes Earn RMAC All-Academic Honors
Colorado Springs, Colo.: Eight Rangers received Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic honors the conference announced Thursday. In order to be awarded these honors, student-athletes must hold a 3.30 or higher GPA, be a starter or reserve, and have completed either two consecutive semesters or three quarters at the institution in which they are currently enrolled.
Junior Nathan Kafer was named to the First Team All-Academic with a 3.59 GPA in Business Administration and Finance. Kafer, from Erie, Colo., is tied for the team lead with 13 points, scoring four goals and registering five assists. This is his second year in a row that he has earned this honor.
Placed on the second team was sophomore Ben Buhler (3.74 in Engineering), junior Gary Cole (3.45 in Spanish), sophomore Jordan Brandel (3.64 in Neuroscience), and senior Donnie Montoya (3.36 in Accounting).
Buhler, a native of Greeley, Colo., has played in all 12 games and has two goals and one assist. Cole is in his second season as a Ranger after transferring from Vermont. He is one of the top defenders in the region and has started all 12 games. Brandel, from Flagstaff, Ariz., has started three games and has scored two goals and assisted on two others. Montoya, from Albuquerque, N.M., has three assists from his midfield position.
Senior Ryan Brennan (3.48 in Business), sophomore Kyle Emge (3.40 in Business Management), and sophomore James Martinez (3.36 in Business Management) were all selected for the Honor Roll.
