Ranger Men's Soccer Team Forges Tie with 15th Ranked Metro State
Denver, Colo.: The Regis men's soccer team took on crosstown and 15th ranked Metro State today on the Auraria Campus. Regis, who has one of the toughest schedules in the country, forged a 1-1 tie with the Roadrunners.
Metro State's Joey Duran scored the Roadrunners only goal just over thirty minutes into the game and the Roadrunners went into the halftime break with the one goal lead. Sophomore forward Nathan Kafer scored his fifth goal of the season tying the game with just over 27 minutes left in the game on a penalty kick.
Neither team could score in either of the two overtime periods and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Regis (4-6-2, 3-3-2 RMAC) was outshot 36-15 by Metro State (7-3-3, 4-1-2). Junior goalkeeper Wally Fink had 11 saves for Regis dropping his goal-against-average to 1.46 on the season.
Regis returns home next Friday as they host Colorado Christian at 1 PM at the Regis Match Pitch.
