Gary Cole Named Daktronics First Team All-Central Region; Nathan Kafer and Sterling Copeland Earn Second Team Honors
Colorado Springs, Colo.: Sophomore defender Gary Cole was named Daktronics First team All-Central Region for the 2008 season. Nathan Kafer and Sterling Copeland, also sophomores, earned Daktronics Second Team All-Central Region honors.
Cole was one of the Rangers leading defenders helping lead them to three shutouts while assisting on one goal this season. Cole started all 18 of the Rangers games and earned one individual point during the season taking two shots both of which were on goal. Cole also earned First Team All-RMAC.
Also starting all 18 of Regis' game, Kafer earned second team honors. He was the top scorer for the Rangers with 10 goals off 62 shots, 29 of which were on goal. He ended the season with a 46.8 shot on goal percentage. He assisted on five goals during the season and earned 25 individual points.
Another second team selection, Copeland, played in 15 games this season and was the second leading scorer behind Kafer with six goals. He took 37 shots, 19 of which were on goal giving him a shot on goal percentage of 51.4. Copeland earned 14 individual points this season.
Kafer and Copeland also earned Second Team All-RMAC honors this eason.
The Rangers went 8-8-2 overall with a 7-5-2 record in the RMAC during the 2008 season.They finished fifth in regular season play just one seed shy of making the conference tournament.
