Seven Seniors Say Farewell After Defeating CSU Pueblo in Rangers' Last Home Game of the Season

Denver, Colo.: Seven seniors left the Regis Soccer Pitch Sunday afternoon to never return as players. With that, they left with many accomplishments and a last victory on the field as they defeated Colorado State Pueblo 1-0.

The entire first half went scoreless with the Thunderwolves outshooting the Rangers in the first period 17 to 8. Though the first period drew many shots and no goals, two shots into the second half and just six minutes and 54 seconds Regis took the lead on a goal by freshman Ben Buhler. Senior Chris camp served the ball to Buhler who put the ball into the left side of CSU Pueblo’s net.

Neither team scored again leaving the final score at 1-0 in favor of Regis. There were a total of 40 shots in the game with 29 coming from the Thunderwolves and 11 from the Rangers.

After the final horn sounded indicating the end of the game and of the seniors’ last game at their home field, the six of them were recognized for their accomplishments at Regis University. Andrew Munday, Danny Terrill, Chris Camp, Jordan Finley, Sean Murphy, and Matt Gonzales were all greeted by their teammates, coaches, and lastly their parents at midfield to celebrate their careers as Rangers.

Regis will face Mesa State on Fri., Oct. 31 in Grand Junction. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
