Rangers Defeat Colorado Christian 2-1; Kafer and DePetro Both Score One
Lakewood, Colo: The Rangers (1-2-1) gain their first win of the season Sunday afternoon after defeating the Colorado Christian Cougars (0-6-0) 2-1 in Lakewood.
Regis's Sam DePetro scored the first goal of the game and his first of the season 13 minutes and 25 seconds into the first half.
Both teams fought for field position until the Rangers struck again just over seven minutes later when Nathan Kafer scored to give Regis a 2-0 lead going into the second half.
Eight minutes and 31 seconds into the second period CCU's Ryan Schlichtman scored to cut the deficit to one.
The Rangers outshot the Cougars 22 to nine with seven of them being on goal.
Regis will head south on Sept. 19 for a conference match-up against CSU-Pueblo at 4:30 p.m.
