Ranger Men's Golf Opens Season At Wayland Baptist Peaks Classic

La Veta, Colo.: The Regis men's golf team opened their season at the Wayland Baptist Peaks Classic at Grandote Peaks Golf Club (72, 7085 yards).  The team finished in seventh place with a three-round total of 894. 

UC-Colorado Springs took the team title shooting an 871, just one stroke better than NAIA Grand View College of Des Moines, Iowa.  Host Wayland Baptist finished in third place with a team total of 878.

Junior Greg Johnson led the Rangers with a five-over 221, which included a 68 in the third round.  His first two rounds consisted of a 79 and a 74.  Sophomore Taylor Hulbert finished next for Regis in a tie for 23rd with a seven-over 223 (75-72-76).  Sophomore Robert Quick, 73-77-77, finished in a tie for 34th with a 11-over 227 total.

Juniors Zach Johnson and Alex Roberts finished tied for 38th and 57th respectively.  Johnson (76-75-77) was one stroke behind Quick at 228.  Roberts had a three-round total of 236 (+20) after shooting rounds of 80, 72 and 84.

Regis returns to action next Monday and Tuesday as they take part in the RMAC Championships #1 at Cougar Canyon Golf Links in Trinidad, Colo.
