Regis Men's Golf Finishes Season with Eighth Place Finish at RMAC Championships
Florence, Ariz.: In the final golf tournament for the Regis men's golf team in 2009-10, it wasn't how the Rangers wanted to finish the season. Regis tied with Nebraska-Kearney for eighth place with a team aggregate score of 935.
Western New Mexico took the team title by four strokes over defending champions UC-Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions had a five stroke lead heading into the final round but imploded with a 297 while the Cowboys carded a 288.
Gordon Webb of Western New Mexico and Chris Shoop of UC-Colorado Springs tied for individual medalist each carding a 4-under 212 at the Poston Butte Golf Course in Florence, Ariz. (72-7282).
The top finisher for Regis was sophomore Robert Quick's 14th place finish. He had rounds of 77, 72 and 76 for a three-round total of 225 (+9). Junior Zach Johnson was next in a tie for 27th, carding a 232 (77-75-80), while the lone senior Josh Wagner tied for 42nd with a 241 (85-73-83).
Junior Greg Johnson and sophomore Alex Roberts finished out the scoring for Regis finishing in 45th and 50th places respectively.
