Ranger Men's Golf Battles Wind and Top Teams to Finish 9th at NSIC/RMAC Regional Crossover


Gothenburg, Neb.: The NSIC/RMAC Regional Crossover meet participants saw windy conditions and the top teams from the two conferences do battle at Wild Horse Golf Course (72-6835).  The Regis men finished ninth overall with a three-round scored of 956 behind tournament champion Minnesota State who carded a 925.

RMAC foe Nebraska-Kearney was one stroke behind Minnesota State at 926, while Colorado Mines and St. Clouid State finished in a tie for third place with a 932.

Brady Strangstalien of Winona State was the individual medalist with a five-over 221 after shooting rounds of 71-79-71.

Regis was led by junior Greg Johnson who finished in fifth place with a 13-over 229.  Johnson shot a 76 in the first and second rounds and a 77 in the third round.  Sophomore Robert Quick carded a 238 (81-82-75) to finish in a tie for 32nd.

Junior Zach Johnson responded after a slow first round (86) to shoot a 78 and a 79 in the second and third rounds to finish with a 243 and tie for 45th.  Sophomores Alex Roberts and Taylor Hulbert finished in a tie for 70th and 76th respectively.  Roberts (78-92-84) carded a 254, two strokes clear of Hulbert (86-84-86).

Regis will head to Phoenix, Ariz. next Monday and Tuesday to participate in the Grand Canyon Fall Invite at the Estrella Mountain Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz.
