Regis Finishes Fifth in Spring Opener at Western New Mexico Mustang Invitational
Albuquerque, N.M.: The Regis Ranger men's golf team opened the spring portion of their 2009-10 schedule with a fifth place finish at the Western New Mexico Mustang Invitational at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course (par 72).
Regis posted a 27-hole 456 good for fourth place after the first day. The Rangers then shot a 311 on the final 18 holes to finish with a 764 trailing Western New Mexico's team-winning 730.
Junior Greg Johnson led Regis with a 183 (73-34-76) in fifth place. Scott Ccrichton was the individual medalist shooting a four-under 176. Sophomore Robert Quick was next carding a 188 (+8), while junior Alex Robers finished in a tie for 16th at 190 (+10).
Sophomore Ben Davis finished in 44th place with a 203, while junior Evan DeCoster carded a 214 to round out the Rangers squad tied for 49th.
Regis will next compete at the Colorado Mines Triangular on March 28th at Saddleback Golf Club in Firestone, Colo.
