Ranger Men's Golf Student-Athlete Greg Johnson Named RMAC Golfer of the Week

Denver, Colo.: Regis junior golfer Greg Johnson was recently named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.  His exceptional three-round total at the NSIC/RMAC Regional Crossover played at the Wild Horse Golf Course in Gothenburg, Neb.

Against some of the toughest competitors in the country and at one of the toughest courses in the midwest and against some of the toughest weather conditions Johnson was able to overcome all that and finish in fifth place with a 229.

His three rounds were very consistent as he shot a 76 in each of the first two rounds and a 77 in the final round.  He finished just eight strokes behind individual medalist Brady Strangstalien of Winona State.  Johnson tied with Justin Stonacek of Nebraska-Kearney for top honors by a RMAC student-athlete.

Johnson leads the Rangers with a 75.0 scoring average in three meets this fall.  He has finished in the top 20 of all meets and in the top 10 of two of them.  His 221 at the Wayland Baptist Peaks Classic two weeks ago is the team low for any Ranger golfer.  He also went low carding a 68 in the third round of that same classic.

Regis will head to Goodyear, Ariz. to take part in the Grand Canyon Invitational at Estrella Golf Course.
