Ranger Men's Golf Ends Fall Season with Seventh Place Finish at CSM/Regis Invitational
Aurora, Colo. The Regis men's golf team finished up their fall portion of the 2009-10 season at the Colorado Mines/Regis Invitational held at Blackstone Country Club (72-7201). Playing in real tough field for the second week in a row the Rangers finished in seventh place with a two-round score of 611.
The tournament was shortened due to frost and cold weather. The teams played 18 holes on the first day and the teams played as many holes of the second round as they could. The second day got underway late also due to the course conditions. Tournament officials decided to just play two rounds instead of three.
Sophomore Robert Quick and junior Zach Johnson paced the Rangers carding a 151. Quick shot a 74 and a 77, while Johnson shot a 76 in the first round and a 75 in the final round. Quick and Johnson finished in a tie for 21st.
Sophomore Taylor Hulbert followed up his first round 79 with a 3-over 75 to log a 154 to forge a tie in 34th place. Junior Greg Johnson (75-80) carded a 155 to tie for 39th, while sophomore Kyle Seery bettered his first round of 90 with an 87 to finish in a tie for 70th carding a 177.
