Regis Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at UCCS Spring Invitational
Colorado Springs, Colo.: The Ranger men's golf team shot three strokes better in their second round than they did in round one, but it was only good enough for seventh place at the prestigous Broadmoor East Course (72-7344). The Rangers shot a two-round combined score of 633 in the UCCS Spring Championship in which the host UC-Colorado Springs took the team title with a 591.
UCCS golfer Brian Morfeld took the individual title in a playoff with Fort Lewis golfer Luke Tanner as both finished their two rounds with an identical 1-under 143.
Junior Josh Wagner paced Regis with a 155 (+11) which tied him for 15th. Sophomore Greg Johnson shot a 160 (+16) to tie for 31st, while freshman Kyle Seery shot an 80 in round two to finish with a 162 (+18) and a tie for 35th. Two other freshman competed for Regis; Robert Quick carded a 163 (+19), while Taylor Hulbert finished the course with a 167 (+23).
The Rangers will now compete in the RMAC Championships which will take place April 20-21 in Buckeye, Ariz. at the Sundance Golf Club.
