Rosinski's 23 Points Not Enough as the Regis Men's Basketball Team Falls to Fort Lewis 78-67
Denver, Colo.: Fort Lewis College led the whole way in defeating the Regis Rangers 78-67 tonight in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's action. Regis got 23 points from senior guard Matt Rosinski, while Fort Lewis was led by guard DeAndre Lansdowne's 24.
Fort Lewis (6-1, 1-1 RMAC) got on the board first and never relinqushed the lead. Regis (2-2, 0-2 RMAC) was able to cut it to five a couple of times in the first half, but it seemed just when the Rangers would go on a little run and cut the lead below double digits, the Skyhawks would get a basket or two and stretch the lead.
The lead was just seven points, 36-29 at halftime, for Fort Lewis after Regis scored five of the final seven points. Unfortunately that is as close as the Rangers would get the rest of the way and the Skyhawks were able to stretch the lead to as many as 17 a couple of times.
Rosinski hit on 8-of-17 from the field and was joined in double figures by junior guard Jordan Martinez-Doublin's 17 points. Martinez-Doublin led the Rangers with five rebounds, while junior Curtis Mitchell came off the bench to chip in with eight points.
Regis was 11-for-16 from the charity stripe, while Fort Lewis hit on 22 of 29 free throws. Lansdowne was joined by Kyle Behrens and Matt Morris in double figures, each having 15 points. Behrens had a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Regis will take to the road next weekend as they travel to Grand Junction, Colo. to take on Mesa State.
