Rangers Erupt for 99-53 Victory Over Peru State; Matt Rosinski Notches Career-Best 37 Points
Denver, Colo.:The Regis men's basketball team erupted for 99 points and junior guard Matt Rosinski dropped in a career-high 37 points, 24 in the first half, in a 99-53 victory over Peru State in non-conference action today at the Regis Fieldhouse.
Regis (5-7) jumped out to an 11-4 lead early in the game, but Peru State (1-14) cut the lead to two on two separate occasions before Regis put the game out of reach. Regis went on a 29-6 run over an 11 minute span to take a 42-17 lead with 3:29 remaining in the first half. Regis held Peru State to just 23 points at half, in fact, Rosinski was able to outscore the Bobcats by himself as he tossed in 24 first half points. The Rangers went into halftime with their biggest halftime lead of the season at 44-23.
Regis steadily increased their lead during the second half. Regis finished the last seven minutes of the game on a 17-3 run to finish off the Bobcats and win their fifth of the season by 46 points.
The Rangers were led again by Rosinski's 37 points. He hit on 15-of-25 from the field and 4-of-10 from three-point land. Senior guard Andy Pokorny had 15 points and a game-high three steals. Junior guard Jason Burke-Kavros had 13 points, while junior forward Isaiah Johnson had 10 points. Burke-Kavros and senior guard Gabriel Green had game-high six assists. Junior forward Joseph Odugbela grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds to help the Rangers outrebound Peru State 43-21.
Regis will travel to Silver City, N.M. to take on Western New Mexico in RMAC action. Tip is set for 4 PM.
