Regis Men Fall to Nebraska-Kearney 73-61

Kearney, Neb.: The Regis Ranger men's basketball team fell tonight in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action 73-61 to Nebraska-Kearney. Nebraska-Kearney jumped out to an early 13-2 lead and never looked back in giving the Rangers their 18th loss of the season.

Regis (7-18, 4-13 RMAC) were behind by as many as 19 points, twice, in the first half.  Nebraska-Kearney (10-14, 7-10 RMAC) led 39-25 at halftime after hitting 12-of-15 from the free throw, while the Rangers attempted no free throws.

Regis fell behind by as many as 24 points in the second half but got as close as 10, however, it was with only 37 seconds remaining.

Nebraska-Kearney was 20-of-28 from the charity stripe compared to just 9-of-12 for Regis.  Both teams did a lot of work on the offensive boards as Regis collected 13 offensive rebounds, while UNK had 19.  Regis picked up a season-high nine blocks, five of which were by junior forward Alex Potts.

Freshman forward Anthony Porch came off the bench to score a team-high 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting.  He also led the Rangers with six rebounds and had two blocked shots. Junior guard Matt Rosinski and Potts each chipped in with 12 points.

Regis will finish up their season next week as they host Metro State on Tuesday night at 7 PM and travel to Colorado Springs to take on UC-Colorado Springs on Friday night at 8 PM.
