Rangers Drop Fifth Straight After Falling 77-67 to Colorado Christian
Denver, Colo.: The Rangers fell for the fifth consecutive time in as many games after being defeated 77-67 by Colorado Christian Friday evening at the Regis Fieldhouse.
Regis (6-16, 3-11 RMAC) grasped the first lead at the 19:14 mark after junior Bill Brandenburg made the first basket putting the Rangers up 2-0. That lead was short-lived as just 22 seconds later, Colorado Christian's Peter Bailey made a three pointer putting the Cougars up by one (3-2).
From there, Colorado Christian (13-9, 8-6 RMAC) went on a 16-8 run grasping a nine point lead with 13 minutes remaining in the first half. Both teams matched baskets for the remainder of the half with Colorado Christian walking into the locker room with a six point lead (47-41).
The Cougars went on another run to start off the second half when they scored nine while holding the Rangers to zero between the 15:07 mark and the 12:09 mark (47-60). Regis fought back coming within one at the 6:44 mark after going on a scoring spree themselves. From the 12:09 mark, Regis scored 14 allowing only two points by the Cougars (62-61). However, Colorado Christian quickly diminished the Rangers' one point deficit by going on a 12-2 run to go ahead by 11 with just 2:15 remaining. Baskets were exchanged before Colorado Christian walked away with a ten point victory over the Rangers (77-67).
Three Rangers scored in double digits with junior Matt Rosinski leading with 23 points. Junior Joseph Odugbela had 17 and Brandenburg had 15. Regis shot 41.3 from the floor and 54.5 from long distance. They were near perfect from the charity line, making 23 of 24 free throw attempts (95.8) to the Cougars 16-21 (76.2).
