Rangers Have no Answer Inside as they Fall 72-57 to CSU-Pueblo

Denver, Colo.:The Regis men's basketball team couldn't find their shooting touch tonight as they fall in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play 72-57 to CSU-Pueblo.  The Rangers shot just 34.4 percent from the field compared to 54.3 percent for the Thunderwolves.

Regis (5-10, 2-5 RMAC) and CSU-Pueblo (7-8, 4-3 RMAC) traded the lead for much of the first 10 minutes of play.  The Thunderwolves went on a 7-0 run to turn a one-point deficit into a six-point lead with 8:11 remaining in the first half.  Regis stayed within single digits until just before half when CSU-Pueblo again went on a run, this time a 8-2 run to close the half and go ahead 39-28 going into intermission.

With leading scorer, junior guard Matt Rosinski, held well under his season average, the Rangers could not get any closer than nine points the rest of the way and trailed by as many as 19 early in the half.

The Rangers have now dropped three in a row, but have no time to sulk over this loss as they have to prepare for RMAC West Division leader Metro State on Tuesday at the Auraria Campus.  Tip time is set for 7 PM.

Regis was led in scoring by junior guard Jason Burke-Kavros, who had a second straight solid night shooting the ball.  He scored 19 points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds.  Senior guard Andy Pokorny came off the bench again and provided 10 points and had four steals.  Rosinski was held 13 points below his 18 point per game average.

6'9" center Jake Trahern proved the inside scoring for the Thunderwolves.  He finished with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Guard Roman Van Allen chipped in with 17 points and Marc Williams had 12.
