Rangers Cold Shooting Dooms Them in 80-63 Loss to Colorado Christian

Lakewood, Colo.: The Regis Rangers couldn't rebound from a dismal shooting first half in falling for the second straight game, this time to Colorado Christian 80-63.  Regis shot just 27.6 percent from the field in the first half, a night after shooting 29.6 percent in their opening stanza against Colorado Mines.

The Rangers (6-13, 3-8 RMAC) used good defense in the first half to stay in the game, allowing the Cougars (12-7, 7-4 RMAC) just 31 points, but could only muster 21 themselves.

Colorado Christian went on a 12-2 run late in the first half and early in the second half to take a commanding 39-23 lead with 18:15 left in the game.  Regis could only get the deficit below 10 one time and trailed by as many as 23 late in the game and dropped their fifth straight to Colorado Christian 80-63.

Four Rangers cracked double figures led by junior guard Matt Rosinski's 16 points.  Two players, Jason Burke-Kavros and Joseph Odugbela chipped in with 15 points apiece and senior guard Andy Pokorny had 11.

Regis was outrebounded by a 40-25 margin but only committed a season-low five turnovers.  The Rangers shot 80 percent (16-for-20) from the charity stripe with CCU hitting 24-of-33 free shots.

Justin Neuhaus had a game-high 28 points for Colorado Christian who shot 50 percent from the field for the game including nearly 61 percent in the second half.  Peter Bailey chipped in with 13 points.
