14 Regis Baseball Student-Athletes Earn RMAC All-Academic Accolades
Colorado Springs, Colo.: 14 Regis University baseball student-athletes were named to one of the three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic teams. The 14 players named were the most from any one school outdistancing Nebraska-Kearney who had 10.
Senior Charlie Henderson and junior Tim Lewis were each named to the first team. Henderson who was a second team honoree last season is a senior pitcher from Centennial, Colo. He owns a 3.57 grade point average in business and leads the team with 62 1/3 innings pitched and 45 strikeouts.
The Tahoe Vista, Calif. native, Lewis was an honor roll member last season and has earned a 3.96 GPA in business. A catcher, Lewis is batting .333 on the season and is second on the team with a .429 on-base percentage.
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference is recognizing first team, second team and honor roll allacademic performers in the sport of baseball. To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Graduate students must have earned a 3.30 in their undergrad and graduate classes. The listed GPA is what the student-athletes had earned prior to baseball season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of baseball selected the first and second teams.
Juniors Hunter Aronson and Kyle Mack and sophomore Steven Brault were each honored on the second team.
Aronson leads the team with six saves on the season and has a team-high 18 appearances. Aronson sports a 3.51 GPA in biology, while Mack owns a 3.67 grade point average and majors in education. Mack is 3-3 on the mound including one shutout this season and was an honor roll awardee last season.
Brault has a 3.63 GPA in music and the multi-talented student-athlete has seen time in the outfield at first base and on the mound. The El Cajon native has a .294 average and leads the team with nine stolen bases.
