Sophomore Tony Piazza Earns Daktronics Baseball Second Team All-Central Region Honors
Sophomore first baseman/utility player Tony Piazza was named to the Daktronics All-Central Region Second Team. Piazza helped guide the Ranger baseball team to their first NCAA Tournament berth in 21 years.

The Regis baseball team jumped on the broad shoulders of senior right-hander Mike McElreath and rode him to a 4-2 11-inning victory over Winona State in an elimination game at the NCAA Central Region Tournament.

Senior Charlie Henderson and Tyler Ockuly locked into a pitcher's dual that wasn't decided till the 10th inning with Minnesota State, Mankato squeaking out a 1-0 win in the first round of the NCAA Central Region Tournament at Franklin Rogers Park.

Junior right-hander Aaron Harms was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association Second Team All-Central Region team. Teammates Cody Hastings and Ryan Eustice were tabbed to first team and second team Gold Glove respectively.

Regis Earns Sixth Seed at NCAA Central Region Tournament
The Regis University baseball team earned their first berth into the NCAA Central Tournament Region since 1991 and will take on #1 seed Minnesota State. The tournament will begin on Thursday in Mankato, Minn. Regis is the six seed.

Rangers Capture First RMAC Championship; Earn First NCAA Tournament Berth Since 1991
The Regis University baseball team had a chance to make history today as they took on CSU-Pueblo in the RMAC Championship Game. History in fact was made as Regis won their first RMAC Championship and earned an automatic berth to the 2012 NCAA Division II Tournament with a 9-2 victory at Rawlings Field.

Rangers Back Henderson’s Gem with 15 Runs on the Road
The Rangers traveled to Brandt Field to open up a four-game series with the Cowboys on Friday. New Mexico Highlands (27-11, 20-9 RMAC) has led the Plains Division for much of the 2012 season, but the home team fell by a score of 15-2 to one of the hottest offenses in the RMAC. With the win on Tuesday Regis (20-18, 15-14 RMAC) has scored at least six runs in seven of their last nine games.

14 Regis Baseball Student-Athletes Earn RMAC All-Academic Accolades
14 Regis University baseball student-athletes were named to one of the three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic teams. The 14 players named were the most from any one school outdistancing Nebraska-Kearney who had 10.

Regis baseball took a trip south this afternoon looking to make a statement against Air Force, the first Division I opponent the Rangers have faced this season. Regis (19-18) entered the match-up hoping to take advantage of a struggling opponent, but the Falcons (9-25) took care of business at home with an 8-1 victory.

In an effort to avoid the inclement weather scheduled to arrive this weekend, Sunday’s game between the Rangers and Thunderwolves was moved to Friday afternoon as game one of a doubleheader. Regis (17-17, 12-14 RMAC) took care of business in game one, but CSU-Pueblo (23-13, 20-6 RMAC) evened the series with effective starting pitching in the nightcap.

Rangers Erase Six-Run Deficit to Beat Roadrunners, Win Series
Regis baseball claimed a 10-6 victory over the Roadrunners of Metro State College in their final meeting of the season on Sunday. The Roadrunners (9-17, 6-14 RMAC) led 6-0 in the fifth inning, but the Rangers (13-15, 8-12 RMAC) rallied for 10 unanswered runs in the late innings to bring home the 3-1 series win.

HASTINGS’ WALK-OFF SINGLE GIVES BLUE SERIES VICTORY
Junior Cody Hastings (Snohomish, WA) connected with a clutch two out, two run single to give Team Blue a dramatic victory in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game Five of the Ranger World Series. The 6-5 win gave Coach Weber’s Blue Team the deciding margin in the series as they claimed the title and boasting rights in the final contest of 2011.

On a cool and breezy fall day, junior Nick Capra (Arvada West HS) pitched six complete innings to lead the Blue Team to a 6-2 victory on Monday afternoon. Mixing change-ups and fastballs, and backed up by stellar defense, Capra recorded twelve ground ball outs while recording four strikeouts. Capra allowed only one hit, a fourth inning single to Bob Terry (Air Academy HS).
