Sophomore Tony Piazza Earns Daktronics Baseball Second Team All-Central Region Honors
Sophomore first baseman/utility player Tony Piazza was named to the Daktronics All-Central Region Second Team. Piazza helped guide the Ranger baseball team to their first NCAA Tournament berth in 21 years.

The Regis baseball team jumped on the broad shoulders of senior right-hander Mike McElreath and rode him to a 4-2 11-inning victory over Winona State in an elimination game at the NCAA Central Region Tournament.

Senior Charlie Henderson and Tyler Ockuly locked into a pitcher's dual that wasn't decided till the 10th inning with Minnesota State, Mankato squeaking out a 1-0 win in the first round of the NCAA Central Region Tournament at Franklin Rogers Park.

Junior right-hander Aaron Harms was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association Second Team All-Central Region team. Teammates Cody Hastings and Ryan Eustice were tabbed to first team and second team Gold Glove respectively.

MANKATO, Minn.: Fresh off their staggering win over Colorado State University-Pueblo to claim the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament Championship title last week, the Ranger men head to Mankato, Minn. to compete in the NCAA tournament.

The Regis University baseball team earned their first berth into the NCAA Central Tournament Region since 1991 and will take on #1 seed Minnesota State. The tournament will begin on Thursday in Mankato, Minn. Regis is the six seed.

Rangers Capture First RMAC Championship; Earn First NCAA Tournament Berth Since 1991
The Regis University baseball team had a chance to make history today as they took on CSU-Pueblo in the RMAC Championship Game. History in fact was made as Regis won their first RMAC Championship and earned an automatic berth to the 2012 NCAA Division II Tournament with a 9-2 victory at Rawlings Field.

The Regis University baseball team will have a chance to win their first RMAC Championship after defeating New Mexico Highlands for the second time in two days 3-0. Junior Aaron Harms threw his second shutout in a row to improve to 8-1.

Regis played their final road games of the 2012 season with a doubleheader against Colorado Christian University on Saturday. The Rangers (25-20, 20-16 RMAC) combined to hit five home runs in the two games, leading the visitors to a four-game series sweep of the Cougars (9-36, 6-29 RMAC)

Regis baseball traveled to Colorado Christian University for a Friday doubleheader at All-Star Park. The Rangers (23-20, 18-16 RMAC) opened their final weekend series of 2012 the right way, continuing their streak of high offensive production to take down the Cougars (9-35, 6-28 RMAC) in both games.

Regis baseball continued to produce on Sunday with an 11-4 win over New Mexico Highlands at Brandt Field. The Rangers (21-20, 16-16 RMAC) scored in double digits for the fourth time in their last six games to earn a four-game series split with the Cowboys (29-12, 22-10 RMAC).

The Rangers and Cowboys continued their weekend set with a doubleheader at Brandt Field on Saturday. Regis (20-20, 15-16 RMAC) looked to build on their recent momentum, but New Mexico Highlands (29-11, 22-9 RMAC) regained control in the series by claiming both games.

Rangers Back Henderson’s Gem with 15 Runs on the Road
The Rangers traveled to Brandt Field to open up a four-game series with the Cowboys on Friday. New Mexico Highlands (27-11, 20-9 RMAC) has led the Plains Division for much of the 2012 season, but the home team fell by a score of 15-2 to one of the hottest offenses in the RMAC. With the win on Tuesday Regis (20-18, 15-14 RMAC) has scored at least six runs in seven of their last nine games.

14 Regis Baseball Student-Athletes Earn RMAC All-Academic Accolades
14 Regis University baseball student-athletes were named to one of the three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic teams. The 14 players named were the most from any one school outdistancing Nebraska-Kearney who had 10.

Regis baseball took a trip south this afternoon looking to make a statement against Air Force, the first Division I opponent the Rangers have faced this season. Regis (19-18) entered the match-up hoping to take advantage of a struggling opponent, but the Falcons (9-25) took care of business at home with an 8-1 victory.

The Regis University baseball team has scheduled a non-conference game against NCAA Division I Air Force. The one-game nine-inning contest will be played on the Air Force campus on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

In an effort to avoid the inclement weather scheduled to arrive this weekend, Sunday’s game between the Rangers and Thunderwolves was moved to Friday afternoon as game one of a doubleheader. Regis (17-17, 12-14 RMAC) took care of business in game one, but CSU-Pueblo (23-13, 20-6 RMAC) evened the series with effective starting pitching in the nightcap.

The Rangers (16-16, 11-13 RMAC) wrapped up their four-game weekend series with a 6-5 win over the Orediggers (11-17, 10-14 RMAC) at Jim Darden Field on Saturday. Regis has won three consecutive games and six of their last eight.

The Rangers (15-16, 10-13 RMAC) put on a slugfest at Jim Darden Field, claiming both seven-inning contests with five home runs combined and solid performances from the two starting pitchers.

The Rangers (13-16, 8-13 RMAC) took a trip down I-70 to Jim Darden Field in Golden for a Thursday night match-up with the Orediggers (11-14, 10-11 RMAC) of Colorado School of Mines. Both teams got quality performances from their starting pitchers, but the Orediggers held on for the 3-2 win at home.

Rangers Erase Six-Run Deficit to Beat Roadrunners, Win Series
Regis baseball claimed a 10-6 victory over the Roadrunners of Metro State College in their final meeting of the season on Sunday. The Roadrunners (9-17, 6-14 RMAC) led 6-0 in the fifth inning, but the Rangers (13-15, 8-12 RMAC) rallied for 10 unanswered runs in the late innings to bring home the 3-1 series win.

The Regis baseball team headed west to take on the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa University on Friday afternoon. The Rangers (10-11, 5-8) could not open the four-game series with a win as the Mavericks (16-7, 10-3) claimed a 7-2 win in front of their home crowd.

Hectic Colorado weather prevented the Rangers from playing their first home game until Saturday, when the Cowboys of New Mexico Highlands arrived to begin a four-game weekend series. The Cowboys (8-1, 2-0 RMAC) took game one by a score of 7-3, then picked up a 6-1 win against the Rangers (4-4, 0-2 RMAC) in the seven-inning nightcap.

The Regis baseball season officially began Saturday, though not in the way either team had predicted. Snow in Denver moved the 2012 season opening series between the Rangers and University of Sioux Falls to Hobbs Field in Pueblo, where the Rangers played as the home team.

Junior Cody Hastings (Snohomish, WA) connected with a clutch two out, two run single to give Team Blue a dramatic victory in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game Five of the Ranger World Series. The 6-5 win gave Coach Weber’s Blue Team the deciding margin in the series as they claimed the title and boasting rights in the final contest of 2011.

Blue team starting pitcher Charlie Henderson (Arapahoe HS) and Gold starter Kevin Ross (Highlands Ranch HS) dueled each other in a crucial Ranger World Series game on Tuesday afternoon. Facing elimination, Ross led his team to a 5-2 victory forcing a deciding game five on Thursday afternoon.

On a cool and breezy fall day, junior Nick Capra (Arvada West HS) pitched six complete innings to lead the Blue Team to a 6-2 victory on Monday afternoon. Mixing change-ups and fastballs, and backed up by stellar defense, Capra recorded twelve ground ball outs while recording four strikeouts. Capra allowed only one hit, a fourth inning single to Bob Terry (Air Academy HS).
