The Regis University Board of Trustees announced Father John P. Fitzgibbons, S.J., as the 24th president of Regis University. He will take office June 1, 2012. Dick Kelly, chair of the Regis University Board of Trustees, made the announcement.

Four Rangers Earn All-RMAC Baseball Honors
Heading into the RMAC tournament, the Rangers sit at 22-25, 20-19 conference, with four players receiving All-RMAC honors and Steven Brault being tabbed RMAC Freshman of the Year. Junior pitcher Charlie Henderson along with freshman designated hitter Jon Shoutta received first team honors. Sophomore Bob Terry and Brault were named to the third team with Brault gaining recognition at two positions.

Due to inclement weather in Grand Junction, the first day of the RMAC Baseball Tournament will now be Thursday. Regis was scheduled to take on Mesa State Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m., but that game will now be played at the same time on Thursday night.

Longtime Regis University Assistant Baseball Coach John Picconi Passes Away
Longtime Regis University assistant baseball coach John Picconi passed away on Wednesday at the age of 90. Coach Picconi was a force in the Ranger dugout for many years and was still patroling the field up till a few weeks ago when his health took a turn. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be updated on our website when finalized.

The Regis Rangers lost more than just a baseball game today falling to Colorado Mines 13-9 in a non-conference tilt. The Rangers found out just minutes before leaving campus for Golden that there longtime assistant coach John Picconi had passed away. Playing with heavy hearts the Rangers outhit Mines but were hampered by three errors.
