Regis Runs into Road Block in the way of #7 Ranked New Mexico Highlands Falling 18-4 at the RMAC Tournament
Kearney, Neb.: The Rangers found out why New Mexico Highlands won the RMAC regular season baseball crown and are ranked seventh in the country. NMHU scored runs in every other inning starting with two in the first on their way to an 18-4 opening round victory over Regis.
First-Team All-RMAC pitcher Charlie Henderson was hit early and often in his shortest outing in almost two months. Regis (15-28) cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the second but the Cowboys erupted for six runs in the third to open the game open.
Second-Team All-RMAC performer Bryant Asnicar pitched two scoreless innings allowing just one hit and striking out four to lower his team-low ERA to 1.91.
Sophomore Alex Haag, also a second team honoree, had two hits for Regis and one RBI on his 10th homerun of the season. Seniors Patrick Farrell, Jesus Arzaga and Max Regalado and junior Tim Terry each collected a hit for the Rangers.
Regis will play tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. mountain time against the loser of tonight's Nebraska-Kearney and CSU-Pueblo game.
