Four-Run Seventh Inning Propels Regis to 7-5 RMAC Baseball Win over Nebraska-Kearney

Kearney, Neb.: Following an hour rain delay, Regis trailed 5-3 going into the seventh inning before scoring four runs to win the first of a three-game series with Nebraska-Kearney 7-5.

Senior J.T. Putt's eighth homerun of the season drove in three runs in the deciding inning in helping sophomore right hander Charlie Henderson pick up his team-leading fifth victory of the season.  Henderson threw his second complete game of the season allowing three earned runs while striking out six.

Regis (15-25, 10-21 RMAC) got on the board first in the top of the first inning scoring two runs.  Sophomore Alex Haag who went 4-for-5 at the plate provided two RBIs with a double in the initial frame.  Nebraska-Kearney (32-16, 18-12 RMAC) tied the game in the bottom half of the first with two runs of their own.

The Rangers 1-5 hitters went 10-for-20 while 6-9 was hitless in 15 at bats.

Regis tacked on one run in the fourth inning but fell behind when the Lopers scored two in the fifth and one more in the sixth before the Rangers heroics in the seventh inning.  Henderson was then able sit down nine of the next 10 batters to earn the victory.

Senior Gerard Mohrmann and sophomore Ryan Eustice each had two hits for Regis.

The two teams will play two more games on Saturday.
