Rangers End up on Wrong End of 25-12 Slug Fest

Denver, Colo.: New Mexico Highlands scored 10 runs in the first inning and cruised to a 25-12 RMAC victory over Regis.

14th-ranked New Mexico Highlands (29-6, 19-3 RMAC) led 20-1 after 2 1/2 innings before the Regis offense got going.  Regis (13-20, 9-15 RMAC) scored three in the third, five more in the fourth and three more in the fifth to close the gap to 22-12, but that would be as close as Regis would get.

Seniors Jesus Arzaga and J.T. Putt, junior Aaron Salvucci and sophomore Alex Haag each collected two hits.  Putt, Haag and senior Patrick Farrell all hit a homerun with Haag leading the team with four RBIs.

Arzaga, who was tagged by a pitch in the eighth inning, set the Regis season record with his 17th free pass via being hit by pitch.  He broke the mark of 16 that stood since 1993 by Todd Toledo.

The Rangers will travel to Pueblo on Friday evening to take on CSU-Pueblo while the two teams will travel back to Denver on Saturday for a doubleheader that begins at 12:00 p.m.
