Henderson and Farrell Lead Rangers to 6-1 Victory Over Colorado Christian
Golden, Colo.: Three homeruns by Patrick Farrell and a complete game gem by Charlie Henderson led the Rangers to a 6-1 victory over Colorado Christian in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
Farrell, who is tied for third in the nation with 16 homeruns, hit solo homeruns in each of his first three at bats in the second, fourth and sixth innings. Sophomore Alex Haag also hit a solo homerun in the sixth inning just two batters after Farrell's third.
Regis (11-15, 7-10 RMAC) scored two more in the eighth to give sophomore Henderson more than enough room. Henderson scattered five hits throwing his second complete game of the season. He allowed just one solo homerun in the second inning and struck out a career-high eight batters and improves to 4-2 on the season.
In the last two games, Henderson has pitched 18 innings, both complete games, striking out 15 batters and allowing just one earned run and 12 hits lowerin his ERA from 5.95 to 4.24.
Farrell also doubled along with sophomore Dave Holland. Holland went 2-for-5 while Haag was 2-for-4 at the plate.
Farrell moved into a tie for second place all-time at Regis with 31 career homeruns in just less than two seasons. His 16 homeruns are third most in one season at Regis, he trails Todd Morben (2004) who hit 24.
Head Coach Dan McDermott now has 246 career victories at Regis, just one away from tying former head coach Tom Dedin for the most in program history.
Regis and Colorado Christian will play two more contest tomorrow in Golden with first pitch set for 12:00 p.m.
