Patrick Farrell's Two Homeruns and Six RBIs Propel Regis to 12-6 Victory over Colorado Christian
Denver, Colo.: Two homeruns and six RBIs by senior Patrick Farrell helped the Rangers to a 12-6 victory over Colorado Christian in a non-conference tilt.
Colorado Christian (6-13) got on the board against Regis (7-7) starter Steve Falconi with one run in the top of the first inning. The Rangers responded scoring two in the bottom half when Farrell smacked his first homerun a no-doubter over the left center fence driving in fellow senior Jesus Arzaga.
The Rangers didn't look back scoring five runs over the next two innings including three of the five on one swing from Farrell in the third inning. Regis tacked on two more in the fifth and three more in the sxith to blow open the game. Junior Zach Blakeley doubled to left center in the fifth to plate Farrell, who was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate.
Senior J.T. Putt got into the action in the sixth inning when his fifth double of the season scored Arzaga and sophomore Colt Meacham. Farrell then traded places with Putt with his seventh double of the season to score Farrell.
The Rangers pitched by committee today throwing five different pitchers. Falconi notched his first victory of the season throwing two innings allowing just one earned run. Senior Gerard Mohrmann (2 innings), sophomore Nick Capra (2), juinior Reuben Gallegos (1) and sophomore Tyler Landwehr (1) each pitched for Regis.
Colorado Christian did outhit the Rangers 18-11 but left 14 runners on base compared to just three for Regis.
Blakeley and sophomore Alex Haag each went 2-for-4, while Arzaga tied Farrell with a team-high three runs scored.
Regis will travel to Kearney, Neb. to take on Nebraska-Kearney Friday and Saturday for an RMAC three-game series.
